We had a blast answering questions and discussing Frog Camp and Orientation in a Facebook
Live Q&A with Senior Admission Counselor Hannah Wright, Dr. Emily Ivey, Director of
New Student and Family Programs and sophomore marketing major and Executive Orientation
Coordinator Samantha Altounian. They answered hundreds of questions about how new
Horned Frogs get connected and transition to college life at TCU. Watch the video below for key takeaways and timestamps with answers to your questions!
Enrolling at TCU unlocks Frog Camp and Orientation
Once you pay your nonrefundable $500 deposit, you'll be able to register for Frog Camp and orientation in your myTCU portal as soon as it opens, which this year will be March 28, 2023! We’ll email you with more info. Registration is first come first serve, so make sure to review our Frog Camp and orientation options and plan for your top camps and sessions. You can also view a calendar of summer 2023 programs to plan accordingly. Dr. Ivey Pro Tip: keep in mind that you will not be able to attend Frog Camp and orientation sessions that overlap over the same day.
Orientation is required for first-year and transfer students
You’ll meet with an academic advisor to schedule your first classes, meet new friends in small groups and get connected with the TCU community! Orientation is required and you're welcome and encouraged to bring two guests. We offer two-day sessions throughout the summer for first-year students and two one-day sessions for transfer students to choose from. For students who start at TCU in the spring, we offer an orientation and a Frog Camp session to help you transition to college life. For the first-year sessions, students will stay overnight on campus and guests have the opportunity to stay on campus. We do charge a small fee for your guests to stay on campus, but otherwise this program is free. Dr. Ivey Pro Tip: for first-year students, we recommend booking a flight that departs after 7 p.m. on day two of your session so you don’t miss enrolling in your college classes. For transfer students, book a flight after 7 p.m. on the day of your session.
Frog Camp is highly encouraged and unforgettable!
Frog camp is a can't miss retreat for new students and is open to all incoming Horned Frogs! All Texas Frog Camps are free and we host camps outside of Texas at varying costs. We even host a mystery camp, where you'll receive a general packing list, show up at the airport and travel to a surprise destination! Like all of our first-year programs, Frog Camp includes intentional opportunities to make new friends and ease your college transition, plus there are legendary late-night dance parties and activities you'll never forget. Dr. Ivey Pro Tip: wait to book your flight(s) until your Frog Camp and orientation dates are confirmed! We can’t guarantee that you’ll be able to attend a camp or session from the waiting list.
