Updated July 31, 2025
TCU’s test-optional application opens on August 1. Here are five things you need to know if you’re applying to join us in 2026:
- TCU is Test Optional through 2027. TCU's Do No Harm testing policy means that submitting scores can only help, not hurt you, when it comes to admission and scholarship. You can submit your application through the TCU Application, Common App, Coalition Application or ApplyTexas. Choose the platform that works best for you. Transfer applicants can use either the TCU App or the Common App.
- No Supplemental Essays are Required. New this year, we removed short answer prompts, giving you more time to focus on your essay. Applications to the John V. Roach Honors College and full-tuition scholarship programs do require supplemental application materials.
- Applicants are Automatically Reviewed for Scholarships. Speaking of scholarships, applicants are automatically reviewed for academic scholarships ranging from $10,000 to $30,000 per year. Find more information about cost, aid and scholarships on our website.
- TCU Offers Multiple Admission Deadlines. Our first big application deadline is November 1, however we encourage you to mark your calendar and apply early to make sure you can submit your application and request for your school to send required documents. Check out our first-year or transfer application checklists for key dates and details.
- TCU is More Affordable than You Think. If TCU is your dream school but you're concerned about how to pay for college, keep in mind that 80% of students rely on financial aid and scholarships and nearly 70% graduate without debt. The FAFSA and CSS Profile financial aid applications open October 1 and we recommend that you submit these before our priority deadline of February 1.
If you have questions along the way, reach out to your TCU admission counselor, or email us at frogmail@tcu.edu. The TCU team is ready to support you every step of the way.
