Transfer students make a meaningful impact on TCU's campus! Many students transfer
after earning associates degrees, completing military service or realizing that the
college they chose just doesn't feel like home. Though no two transfer students will
have identical journeys, there are a few ways to figure out if you're ready to apply to TCU.

Veterans are automatically considered transfer applicants.
TCU is proud to be part of the Yellow Ribbon Program, which means we guarantee a 100 percent tuition benefit for eligible veterans under the Post 9/11 GI Bill. We also waive application fees for veterans. For those transferring with less than
24 credits, your high school will need to submit your official transcripts.
Otherwise, you'll need 12 credit hours taken during a long semester.
If you have graduated from high school, you'll need at least 12 credit hours taken at a regionally accredited college during
a spring or fall semester. If you've earned your GED, you'll need at least 24 hours of transferable college
credit at another institution before we can consider you for transfer admission. Note
that developmental courses won't count toward your transferrable hours. If you're
planning to transfer, keep in mind that we require a total of 58 semester hours completed
to earn a TCU degree, regardless of how many credit hours you transferred in with.
And we'll credit a maximum of 66 hours from another accredited institution toward your
TCU degree. Use our transfer equivalency tool to get a sense for which courses will transfer. We ask for official transcripts from
every college or university a student has attended, including dual credit and institutions
must submit those directly to us.
You'll need to meet academic requirements.
We require a minimum GPA of 2.7 on transferable academic coursework, though some programs such as nursing and business have separate academic requirements. We review each application on an individual basis and in most cases, place greater
emphasis on your more recent coursework. SAT/ACT scores are optional for transfer
applicants with less than 24 completed transferable hours.
International students will need additional documents.
For students whose native language is not English, we require demonstrated English
proficiency. We accept many tests, including the Duolingo English test offered online.
This requirement may be waived for applicants with strong SAT or ACT scores or for
those who have completed at least 24 hours of transferable academic credit (including
English composition) from a college in the U.S. We also require a TCU financial statement
to be completed by international transfer applicants and their sponsor.
You'll need to be in good standing with any previous institutions.
We must receive the Disciplinary Standing Form from each institution you attended
as part of your admission application to TCU. This form provides us the necessary
information pertaining to any disciplinary history and standing at other institutions
of higher education.
